          These inspiring words by the pope brought to mind all the incredible examples I have of mentors in my career that embodied service. Throughout a career of 31 years from my days as a young cadet at West Point in 1982 until my retirement from active duty service in 2013, I have been inspired, mentored and taught by many individuals who lead lives of service.
